An update
Just to bring it all up to date... I've been in prison since December 2004. I was given a 3-year sentence - under Scottish law, this means serving 18 months. 15 down, 3 to go. Currently in hospital for a few days, not sure how much longer. The surgery seems to have gone OK, and I still have the frame attached to my leg - took photos today, but can't post them from here, unfortunately. With any luck, the frame will be off by the time I'm released.

Piecing together things you'd said, particularly your long absence having been immediately preceded by a court date, I figured it probably was that. I have to admit to curiousity as to what led to it, but whether you want to share details is certainly your choice.
Whatever the case, I hope you're doing well.
I don't even think that blog spam was common yet when last you were posting regularly!

Well, it's a long story, and I will get around to it when I'm using less fiddly equipment. As for the blog spam... grrr... I turn my back for 15 months, and look what happens.
I'm sure I could come up with a graphic novel version of what I've imagined happened.
However, it will include not only the auto accident, police, doctors, lawyers, operations, and incarceration, but probably robots and explosions (or else the screenplay will never sell!)
